Endemický jihoafrický druh z východní provincie Transvaal, kde se vyskytuje na travnatých pískovcových svazích hor.Zde roste v písčitých půdách na plném slunci. Podnebí je teplé až mírné v létě,v zimě poměrně chladné a suché bez mrazů.
Encephalartos humilis in Habitat
A visit to the Humilus habitat last year proved that there are still a few plants left. Its quite amazing how they grow in small 2x2 meter colonies. We were in the middle of the bush and cant remember the exact location.
